Job Description

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks an Freelance – Accounting Manager of Internal Control to join the Finance team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.

The position reports to the VP Controller and works closely with colleagues within the accounting and finance teams and business functions within the organization. This position will focus on building an internal control program (leveraging the tools and resources from LVMH, our parent company) to guide the development and deployment. This exciting role is positioned within our global Marc Jacobs HQ and as such provides an opportunity for global impact, management and organization. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing reviews of the Company’s internal controls, assess risks and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls
  • Identify gaps in the internal control framework and assist in developing processes and or controls to address any gaps identified
  • Document key internal control processes and related information (risks, systems, key reports) in narratives, flowcharts, and LVMH framework.
  • Assess and re-engineer key processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Develop a plan for review of the documented controls and narratives with control owners and perform regular testing of controls
  • Actively seek and apply best practices for managing internal controls, including leveraging LVMH guidelines and tools
  • Work collaboratively with process owners to address observations identified by Internal Audit and External Audit. Monitor the status of these observations and assist with preparing formal status updates on a regular basis
  • Oversee Marc Jacobs insurance requirements and program needs as partnered with the LVMH risk management team
  • Provide support for ad-hoc requests from senior management, the FP&A team or the business operations teams, including but not limited to, participating in or leading projects to implement tools for further organizational transformation

Qualifications:

  • Bs / Masters focused on Accounting required
  • CPA or CMA highly preferred
  • 8-10 years experience in both public (preferred) and corporate environments which must include either external or internal audit
  • Experience within an IFRS framework highly preferred
  • Highly skilled in active observation, root cause analysis and written/oral communication
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Excel with strong preference for candidates with ERP solutions like: Oracle JDE, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics Ax12
  • Must be able to effectively communicate across all levels of the MJ / LVMH organization with the ability to influence change
  • Must maintain integrity throughout work product balancing attention to detail with a connection to the big picture
  • In compliance with the Order of New York City’s Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to Require Covid-19 Vaccination in the Workplace, candidates will need to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination by their first day of employment.
