Job Description

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Senior Manager – Product Development, Wovens, to join the Product Development team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.

This individual is responsible for managing all aspects of sample development from design sketch through to production pass off, including multi team and vendor coordination. The team’s goal is to have accurate samples achieving margin targets and within the seasonal development budget. You will be responsible to hand off complete and accurate samples to production team, owning all elements of the sample until approved for bulk.

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive understanding of Woven and C&S garment construction, able to converse with factories and design team to make best product possible.
  • Be a fit and pattern expert able to work with overseas factories and local pattern rooms in Nyc to advise best construction and cost engineer as needed.
  • Full ownership of both categories, working collaboratively with design, merchandising and technical teams. Responsible for all communication with factories
  • Detailed tracking of seasonal development budget across two divisions to stay within spending goals.
  • Achieve development calendar dates set forth by Director and give status in weekly meetings.
  • Cost negotiation with vendor and understanding how to cost engineer garments to achieve a strong cost / value.
  • Manage development proto garment fittings; arranging fit model, taking notes, and coordinating follow up to make sure all details are passed on time.
  • Manage vertically sourced C&S raw material sample ordering in collaboration with the factories.
  • Partner with Rm PD managers for mill sourced fabrics and trims
  • Successfully keep multiple season workflows organized and multitask within a creative driven environment.
  • Manage one direct report
  • Working within a PLM system, build and maintain the BOM from development through to bulk approval state.
  • Request and track samples throughout development process and be aware of their status with clear charts to keep cross functional teams up to date.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion related field
  • 10+ years of experience in product development role
  • Highly detailed and organized with an eye for quality and perfection
  • Prior experience managing and growing a direct report
  • You have an ability to influence design team for required needs.
  • Detail oriented and able to foresee issues before they happen.
  • Experience working with contemporary and luxury brands
  • Comfortable working in a fluid and creative environment
  • Flexible hours as needed for the job
  • Knowledge of garment / pattern construction with an ability to interpret sketches.
  • Knowledge of printing techniques – screen, digital, transfer etc.
  • Strong with computers, able to learn new programs and work within cloud sharing. Working knowledge of excel and PLM required. An added plus for Adobe programs (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Self-starter, eager to get involved.
  • In compliance with the Order of New York City’s Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to Require Covid-19 Vaccination in the Workplace, candidates will need to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination by their first day of employment.
