Purpose and Scope:
We are seeking an Accountant for John Varvatos to help and support our financial department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in monthly closing process and responsible for the preparation of standard, adjusting, reversing and recurring Gl entries
- Manage balance sheet work papers and prepare reconciliations
- Prepare Us Sales Tax Filings and Vat Filings for Uk
- Responsible for monthly Bank Reconciliations
- Posting sales records for each store for the month
- Credit Card Reconciliation and chargeback resolutions
- Credit card commission accrual and reconciliation
- Researching and Manage all Banking mandates
- Monitor all flows of treasury from local to concentration of accounts
- Manage relationships with all banks
- Oversee day to day cash activity
- Work with Store Ops on to establish and maintain proper cash procedures and control
- Manage all sales tax audits
- Ensure bank compliance
- Maintain organised set of records and files to document financial transactions and all journal entries
- Support month end close for all entities
- Preparing monthly governmental census request
- Reporting sales by store to landlords
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies between general ledger and sub-ledgers
- Prepare various analyses of key expense accounts on a monthly basis
- Compile monthly borrowing base certificate schedules for banking requirement
- Liaise with various audit partners and assist with audit requests
- Assist in the development and implementation of controls, process enhancements, and accounting policies in connection with the accounting and reporting structure
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education
Position Requirements:
- Knowledge of financial and accounting applications and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience in State tax compliance reporting, transactional accounting activities, Strong independent work ethic and business acumen
- Detail oriented (accuracy a must), ability to multitask, and prioritise
- Strong organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable in a team environment with changing priorities and tight deadline
- Overtime will be required; contingent upon business needs and deadlines
