Overview:

The Accounting Director will be an integral part and leader within the finance team and will have responsibility for accounting functions across all distribution channels, including retail, wholesale and e-commerce. The Accounting Director will promote maximum fiscal responsibility, safeguard the Company’s assets and ensure compliance with established accounting standards

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze the monthly consolidated financial statements; including preparation of the monthly management reporting package and the yearend financial statements and footnotes that will audited by David Yurman’s external auditors
• Be a true leader of the Accounting team, ensuring that all team members are working together in a productive and effective manner, communicating priorities, and setting the appropriate supportive and collaborative tone
• Proven ability to not only manage but ability to strike the right balance between leading/mentoring and preparation of his/her own deliverables and responsibilities.
• Lead the monthly closing process ensuring all tasks are performed within the set timeframe
• Oversee international accounting including profit eliminations, CTA, intercompany account reconciliations, and partner with the Company’s local accounting resources to ensure all local international reporting requirements are met
• Oversee accounting for fixed assets including accounting for additions, deletions and monthly depreciation and review the reconciliations for these accounts
• Identify and implement process efficiencies and strengthen controls across the general accounting area by leveraging Oracle capabilities and partnering with It to enhance reporting needs
• Oversee all aspects of lease accounting including monthly rents, right of use assets, % rent accounting and tenant allowance accounting
• Prepare monthly journal entries for select departments working closely with FP&A and department heads
• Actively participate in all external audit and bank reviews by assisting in the preparation of audit working papers and coordination of the flow of information to the external auditors
• Actively manage and support 1-3 staff/senior accountant/accounting manager
• Special projects as required

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8-10 years of professional accounting experience in retail or consumer product environment with increasing level of responsibility (start in public accounting preferred)
• Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach; a roll-up-the-sleeves mentality
• Mentor and develop the accounting staff
• Ability to act as a change agent and drive process improvement
• Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and precision
• Articulate, with strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills
• Develops professional rapport internally and externally; cultivates the team.
• Driven and self-motivated; a self-starter
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger ERpPSystem (Oracle and systems acumen a definite plus)
• BS in Accounting required, CPA strongly preferred.
