Job Description

Job Overview:

The Trade Area Director of Asset Protection / Operations manages all Asset Protection programs/personnel for assigned trade area locations. They provide support for the overall business plan, shortage reduction and safety programs as well as all controllable losses. As part of the store management team: you’ll lead, manage, and inspire a diverse team, balancing creativity with commerce to execute in-store success. The TAP/O has oversight and accountability for building and cultivating a motivated, skilled, and equipped asset protection team in the Trade and an operations team in store. The TAP/O will partner with the TAVP and GMs to proactively enhance and deploy Asset Protection and Operations initiatives that drive sales, improve service scores, and increase overall standards for the Trade Area. Position reports directly to Trade Operations/Asset Protection Director with functional and dotted-line responsibility to Sr. Director, Asset Protection & Risk Management.

Essential Functions:

Leadership and Development

  • Responsible for directing the overall asset protection, safety, and shortage reduction programs within their assigned Trade Area in concert with the AP Manager (APM)/AP Supervisors (APS) in each store.
  • Collaborate with Central Asset Protection to develop asset protection programs. Provide direction and leadership in roll out of new programs and initiatives.
  • Able to influence change to deliver results and support organizational goals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze situations, provide direction, communicate expectations and coach to achieve desired results.
  • Train and lead AP Team Area to achieve competency in all areas of asset protection.
  • Collaborate with GM/Store Leadership to execute and drive standards, strategies and workload completion: Fulfillment, Merchandise processing and floor readiness standards, Big day execution, and all outbound merchandise processes.
  • Addresses facilities issues in partnership with store engineers and Central providing a safe environment for customers and associates.
  • Manages Housekeeping standards and holds 3rd party provider accountable to meet standards.

Developing Partnerships

  • Develop open lines of communication at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate a willingness to listen and accept the opinion of others
  • Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with others in mutual problem solving
  • Drives performance through business relationships within/outside the organization.
  • Partner with Trade Area VP/ Trade Area General Managers to support initiatives that drive sales, improve scores and overall standards

Profit Improvement

  • Analyze shortage & safety results for store/Trade Area and formulate reduction plans that are sites specific, accountable, and measurable.
  • Manage and maintain the physical controls and systems in all assigned locations (Systems include CCTV, MPS, Alarms and EAS systems)
  • Work with Central Asset Protection to perform internal/External investigations targeting theft/fraud activities
  • Ensure store audit program impacts operational efficiencies and reduces shortage exposure
  • Responsible for maintain/adhering to payroll, expense requirements, and forecast needs
  • Direct awareness programs to elevate associate participation in asset protection efforts.
  • Analyze the store P & L monthly and execute strategies to exceed plan
  • Achieve Net Promoter score (NPS) goal
  • Maximize and drive HUR compliance to improve NPS “Available” scores
  • Achieve 90% or better in operational metrics, including Markdown compliance, Return to Vendor (RTV) non-congruent (NCT) and job out processing.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • 10+ years related multi-unit leadership experience

Communication skills & Reasoning Ability:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and creativity.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
  • Strong multi-task & problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability to build cross functional relationships across the organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing and talking.
  • Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other equipment.
  • May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds

Other Skills:

  • Strong leadership profile and excellent negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to work as a team player across different functions & departments
  • Strong computer skills: high level of expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus
