Job Description

As the Assistant Manager, Merchandising GA you will be responsible for assisting in developing a line plan aligned with seasonal merchandise strategies and acts as a liaison to the field on any questions relating to product or pricing. Assists in analyzing in-season business by tracking and reviewing sales information to identify opportunities to increase sales, improve margins, maximize inventories and decrease markdowns.

Description of Responsibilities

  • Develop brand appropriate assortments in partnership with GA Spa and management, which incorporates product trends, historical data and field input. Identify and recommend big ideas/ key items positioning to ensure they meet financial targets. Formulate and continually evaluate pricing strategies.
  • Partner with planning and management to complete top down and bottoms up planning and analysis for each dept both seasonally in business plans and monthly in Open-To-Buy.
  • Present assortment to senior management for approval by developing presentation structure and content, and ensuring appropriate analysis is completed. Identify business opportunities and risks in-season through analyzing sales performance and gathering marketplace/trend information.
  • Change future department strategies in-season where needed and provide appropriate and timely direction to the cross- functional team in order to react quickly to customer and business trends.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly sales reports ensuring all opportunities and criticalities are promptly identified and strategized.
  • Analyze and contextualize selling reports to suggest and execute stock movements and transfers.
  • Show initiative to create new strategies and processes for constant cross-category optimization.
  • Analyze Open-To-Buy and take action as necessary; recommending changes to future on order, pricing or markdown strategies.
  • Create and implement effective product knowledge through the division inclusive of product knowledge tools and seminars.
  • Collaborate with Brand Team to develop a strong understanding of market dynamics and needs, supplemented by store visits and competitor analysis.
  • Communicate and partner closely with Retail teams and leadership on client needs and day to day inquiries.
  • Communicate with GA Spa and management through meetings and store visits regarding best/worst sellers.
  • Monitor and provide development and training of assistant buyer and cross-functional team.
  • Work with Visual team to create strong floor sets and accurate documents in order to drive sales.
  • Create and implement effective product knowledge through the division inclusive of product knowledge tools and seminars.

Qualifications

  • High proficiency of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven experience building compelling and engaging data visualization and presentation. Strength in presenting to large audiences and storytelling
  • Bachelor’s degree, business, analytics, merchandising, or related field.
  • Ability to work under deadlines, manage multiple priorities, work independently, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail
  • Practical, innovative, and agile mindset; ability to learn quickly, even from mistakes
  • At least 3 – 5 years of experience in the field
