Job Description

Position Overview:

Safety:

  • Identify workplace hazards, assist in the investigation of incidents and acknowledge safe work behaviors.
  • Escalate issues or safety concerns to supervisor immediately; model safe working habits and ensure a safe environment for all team members.
  • Actively participate in safety team meetings and initiatives.
  • Ensure weekly safety activities are completed.

Receiving:

  • Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate receipts of all incoming merchandise.
  • This includes receiving, unpacking, and distributing vendor and outside supplier materials to the correct department.
  • Verify record and document all inbound shipments.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date record filing system.
  • Transactions will include both manual and JD Edwards System processes.
  • Goal to receive all key components and finished goods within less than 6 hours of receipt.

Shipping:

  • Shipping materials accurately and in a timely manner daily via all shipping carriers.
  • Resolve all shipping / receiving inquiries and or discrepancies within a 24-hour period.
  • Work closely with Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Cost Accounting, and other branches with regards to inquiries about shipments/receipts and/or transactions on JD Edwards System.

Special projects and cross training:

  • Provide administrative support for monitoring and ordering shipping supplies, documentation preparation for audits, and special projects as required.
  • Assist in cross-training of other team members.
  • Partner with team members in inventory control to help with the flow of material or pick materials for work orders in manufacturing.
  • Build partnerships within and across departments to promote efficiency and create a supportive work environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Intermediate computer skills: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work in detail with accuracy
  • Strong organization skills; ability to prioritize and flexibility to change based on business needs.
  • Strong problem solving and technical skills
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks on a daily basis
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work overtime on short notice in support of business needs. This includes weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a high-security industry
  • Previous Shipping / Receiving or related industry experience
  • Familiarity with FedEx, UPS, Brinks, or equivalent carriers
  • Proficiency with JD Edwards, UPS, Pitney Bows or equivalent shipping system software
