Job Description

As a key member of the team, the Analyst, Analytics & Insights (Product) is responsible for data-mining and analytics activities with a focus on Product related decisions across channels and customer segments and shaping the understanding of Product and customer behavior and connection. Activities will support both operational teams as well as strategic projects.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Deliver timely, high quality analytics and insights to support Product related decisions, focused on shaping our understanding of Product and identifying opportunities to optimize our Product strategy across channels and customer segments
  • Synthesize data to identify trends and deliver key insights and business recommendations to the business
  • Meet with Product teams to gather requirements to design, set and maintain to create an enhanced self-serve environment in Holt Renfrew’s Data Warehouse (Microstrategy) to support solutions for better operational decision making in line with operational business decision needs and cadence, as it relates to Product
  • Train users on the self-serve environment in Holt Renfrew’s Data Warehouse and help build a team of “Super Users” within each of the operational Product teams through on-going training (both internal and potentially external)
  • Working with the larger Insights & Analytics team, helping design and build improved data visualizations such as dashboards
  • Focus on continuous improvement by optimizing current reporting design by identifying and correcting inefficiencies
  • Identify opportunities to capture new sources of data (both internal and external) to improve on quality of data sets and build understanding of context
  • Partner with Product teams to use market size and share data to inform strategic initiatives from a product and customer lens including identifying growth opportunities, improving vendor negotiations (i.e. access to exclusive products, increased online assortments, marketing funding, etc.)
  • Contribute to defining how we will track and measure strategic initiatives and support their implementation and roll out
  • Provide insights and strategies to the organization to enhance usage of MicroStrategy and adoption of new functionalities
  • Audit and troubleshoot data problems, if needed
  • Participate in optimization of code for efficiency by using macros and scheduler
  • Leverage Sas and other tools to produce data sets, analyses, tabulations, graphics
  • Apply advanced analytical and statistical techniques to solve questions related to Product

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a quantitative focus, such as statistics, applied mathematics, economics, computer science.
  • At least 2 years of data mining experience, preferably in retail or other B2C environment, with a focus on using customer and product data
  • Experience with Microstrategy considered a strong asset
  • Strong understanding and enterprise scale experience working with Business Intelligence (Bi) implementations and Data Warehouse solutions
  • Experience developing business intelligence solutions; data cubes, dashboards and reports
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Experience using SasMA – Sas Marketing Automation (Ci) or any other campaign management tools such as Unica.
  • Confident and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand business and financial models and link communication tactics to strategic objectives from a financial perspective.
  • Enthusiastic, high-energy and takes a ‘hands-on’ approach, passionate about customer
  • Self-motivated, strong quantitative skills, attention to detail, a high aptitude for problem solving and a natural interest in understanding customer behaviour
  • Experience in cluster analysis, basket analytics, Rfm, regression analysis and other statistical modeling techniques is an asset.
  • Sas Base Programmer or Advanced Programmer certification is an asset
