Job Description

The Business Process Improvement Manager position is a highly visible role that directly provides recommendations and insights to the facilities leadership team. The ideal candidate needs to be a self-starter, who understands research and analysis, and has a strong financial acumen and an innate curiosity to examine current processes, with the ability to build financially focused, future facing business-process solutions. The Business Process Improvement Manager must have the analytical aptitude to absorb and analyze a large amount of information, data, and figures, and pare it down to a logical, digestible process framework. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Engineering Services under Nordstrom facilities.

A day in the life…

  • Provide advisement and influence the facilities senior leadership team on operational and financial decisions informed through appropriate analytics and reporting dashboards that effectively communicate trends, patterns and predictions using relevant data
  • Manage and lead facilities monetary strategy through forecasting, budgetary planning, control, and analysis. Prepare regular financial reports and analysis, ad-hoc modelling requests, and report monthly financial results on facilities’ budget against plan.
  • Partner with project/program managers on the financial impact of operating decisions. Complete complex business modeling and analysis to identify operating improvements and deep dive on cost structures.
  • Closely coordinate with multiple finance partners (Corporate, Supply Chain, Stores) on a regular cadence to provide data updates and maintain data integrity of facilities forecast and spend. Support execution of quarterly and annual planning.
  • Oversee the submission of all CAPEX/OPEX-related returns to ensure the facilities team is receiving the best value for money and projects are meeting the finance IRR huddle rate
  • Build recommendations to improve facilities’ budget/forecast process through tracking, reports, and scorecards. Facilitate training, and influence field teams and other internal stakeholders in highly matrixed organization.
  • Advise on purchasing methods and strategy, working with field management teams on implementation of new processes and systems. Create scalable tools and solutions that help track and manage all expenses.
  • Define and collect baseline metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to enable measurement of cost-savings and time savings as a result of improved process and tracking
  • Develop detailed project plans/initiatives to track project performance, manage project risks/issues, and assure timely completion and achievement of project deliverables. Manage assigned projects and/or initiatives end to end.
  • Responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to perform analysis, create metrics and develop forecasts/insights that support and drive strategic business decisions and process improvement solutions

You’ve got this if…

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience with demonstrated, comprehensive knowledge of business analysis, Business Process Management Notation (BPMN), lean methodologies, and tools for process and performance improvement
  • Well-grounded in business finance, fixed asset process, process improvement and development, metrics and KPIs, performance management and corrective action, budgeting, forecasting, and understanding the overall facilities business strategy.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive change in a complex environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – Ability to build relationships and influence without authority
  • Strong organization and project or program management skills including creating and managing a project plan and timeline both for a small project or across a larger initiative with project partners.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organization levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are required
  • Advanced experience demonstrating analytical problem-solving and root cause analysis
  • Experience in Power Bi, tableau, or smart sheet preferred. Advanced proficiency in Excel required.
  • Lean Certification from an accredited organization is a plus
