Position Summary

The Accounting Manager handles the day-to-day accounting operations of 2 entities, provides financial data and explanations to management on a timely basis while ensuring transactions are properly accounted for within generally accepted and standard accounting practices. He/she leads and develops the Accounting Team.

Profile

Essential Job Functions

• Oversees the general accounting functions, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, treasury, assets management and taxes.
• Responsible for the integrity of the general ledger accounts, verifying that P&L accounts are used consistently and that all balance sheet accounts balances can be substantiated.
• Prepares, reviews, and analyzes financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Closes the books in an accurate and timely manner
• Prior to close, reviews activity and make sure any anomaly has been identified, investigated, and solved.
• During close, ensures all accounting tasks are performed according to the monthly close check list
• After the close, leads the monthly accounts and balance sheet review with the Finance Director
• Develops staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
• Works with all departments (logistics, sales, marketing, retail, etc.) that have an impact on financial statements to understand key business initiatives and ensure that the financial implications of those initiatives are captured properly in the books and records.
• Supports our retail network for all matters related to accounting (payments, sales tax, etc.) and provides training as needed
• Prepares monthly sales tax and Gst returns autonomously and accurately and work with the Tax department on income tax calculations
• Serves as key business / financial consultant for various business departments.
• Ensures that adequate provisions or allowances are maintained for returns, inventories, receivables, deferred rent, warranties, and other obligations.
• Primary contact for tax auditors, local tax authorities, and tax advisors.
• Improve and secure all Accounting-related operational processes through automation and streamlining current process.
• Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as needed.
