Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the Principal, Sales Analytics is primarily responsible for optimizing top-down advertising planning at SSENSE. As our subject matter expert on advertising planning, they will extract growth insights through internal data and competitive benchmarking while also building analysis to evaluate new growth initiatives. In addition, they will support the Sales Channels & Programs in deep analysis related to our strategic initiatives. As an individual contributor, they will bring a strong business acumen to their partnership with their stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data-driven optimization, problem solving, and performance marketing.

Advertising Planning

  • Manage the top-down advertising planning by allocating budget by week, region, channel, and promotion to improve on short term performance as well as on long-term cohort ROI;
  • Own and improve upon the notion of bottom-up channel attribution by identifying opportunities to improve our ad tracking mechanism, attribution model (value of each channel interaction), as well as loss-click compensatory mechanisms;
  • Own and improve upon the notion of incremental ROI for advertising through a rigorous continuous experimentation mindset by partnering with Data Science to design experiments and channel owners to deliver experiments;
  • Perform competitive benchmarking / reverse engineering to identify opportunities to elevate our advertising efficiency at acquiring new customers;
  • Autonomously query data for analysis purposes;
  • Work closely with the Data Science, Product, Technology and Sales teams to continuously improve advertising mix leading to more efficient growth;
  • Promote a rigorous focus on Data Driven Channel Management practices across the different channel teams;
  • Stay abreast of the latest channel acquisition and attribution trends and present new company-wide initiatives to the leadership team

Channels & Program Support

  • Be a thought expert in deep analysis, performance audits, and recommend best practices to our Channels & Programs teams
  • Support a multidisciplinary team on solving complex problems using data
  • Identify current gaps in advertising within the Sales department and work with Senior Leadership to get buy-in to drive evolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field from a leading academic institution;
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in analytics, business intelligence, or a similar role;
  • 6+ years of experience working with Sql and relational database is a Must;
  • Experience using data visualization tools (Tableau, Aws QuickSight, etc) is an asset;
  • Experience with other data manipulation technology an asset;
  • Successful track record of delivering outstanding results as the main thought leader across multiple domains
  • Understanding of advertising mix optimization. You may not be an expert in every channel or discipline, but you understand the big picture and how each piece of marketing fits together;
