Summary
Responsible for protecting customers, team members, merchandise, and physical assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to emergencies, and supporting store safety and security initiatives. Works closely with store leadership, law enforcement, and AP teams to reduce shrinkage and maintain loss prevention standards. Participates in emergency response training and may testify in legal proceedings when required.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions following policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance technology to identify theft activity.
- Investigate internal and external theft by gathering evidence and reporting findings.
- Use RFID and reporting tools to support merchandise investigations and accuracy efforts.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, and investigations.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in safety and first aid training.
- Lead security audits and implement shrinkage reduction action plans and merchandising protection standards.
- Collaborate with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
- Respond to and report security, safety, and emergency incidents including medical situations.
Requirements
- Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a calm demeanor during safety incidents.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
- Willingness to testify in court when summoned.
