Summary
Responsible for protecting customers, team members, assets, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, maintaining safety, and supporting emergency response efforts. Works closely with store leadership, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement to mitigate shrinkage and ensure a secure shopping environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality apprehensions and resolve theft incidents while following policy and procedure.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance to identify and investigate theft activity.
- Analyze theft trends using reporting tools and RFID data to support investigations.
- Drive shrinkage reduction through action plans and merchandise protection standards.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security and emergency incidents, including medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and participate in store meetings and training to raise shrinkage awareness.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training including First Aid.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to make and be accountable for decisions using good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior.
- Accountability, initiative, and ownership with ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Ability to build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
