Summary Statement:
The Director of Store Planning & Construction Remodels and Interior Maintenance will lead the Store Planning and Construction efforts relative to the overall design and construction process for new stores and remodels. The role will lead the team of Project Managers, Store Planners, and Production Coordinators that manage the day-to-day aspects of New Store Projects, Major Remodels & Minor Remodels. This position will coordinate with Senior Management, Store Management, Merchants, Sales Support Vice Presidents and Directors as well as Consultants to facilitate multiple projects from start-up to completion.
Responsibilities & Duties
Lead the connection between Director of Selling Capital and Brand Partnerships as well as Director of Store Planning Special Projects for integration into all New Store and Remodel projects.
Responsible for coaching and directing the Store Planning Project Managers and Store Planners in the management of the planning and design process for new stores, major remodels, and maintenance projects.
Responsible for overseeing efficiency of direct team’s work and deliverables including developing and streamlining processes where necessary.
Communicate with the Director of Selling Capital and Brand Partnerships, Vice President, Store Planning & Construction and the Finance team about the progress being made on brand shops as it relates to new stores and remodel projects. Role is responsible for verifying and ensuring that each of the team members have appropriate resources to complete designated part of the project work.
Responsible for coordinating progress on special projects, brand shops and yearly capital projects for various reports and monthly meetings.
In conjunction with the Vice President, Store Planning & Construction, responsible for identifying and developing scope of work for potential projects that will enhance customer experience, increase sales, the productivity of the stores and the productivity of our division.
Responsible for moving Neiman Marcus forward from a design perspective, developing and delivering next generation environments that exceed customer expectations for the luxury experience.
Responsible for overseeing the management of expense accounts/ budgets related to Store Planning staff and projects.
Responsible for refinements and maintenance of Salesforce and Smartsheets databases with project schedules, budgets, and scope of work information. Will monitoring and audit data entry by direct reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Various other in-house responsibilities include: oversee development of design interpretation packages for production, plan check reviews, shop drawing review oversight, etc.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture
Previous retail project management experience a plus
Excellent computer skills: AutoCad knowledge, Excel & Word proficiency, SalesForce, and Smartsheets
Excellent communication, presentation skills and organizational skills
Drafting skills and knowledge of construction detailing
Team player and ability to motivate/energize teams
Associates must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Work Experience: At least 8-12 years of store planning/design experience with a major department/specialty store or design firm.
Previous people leadership experience including developing, training, and growing team members to maximize their full potential.
Proven and strong cross functional partnership track record
Proven track record achieving results across multiple businesses
Previous experience navigating complex business problems, collaborating with leads across corporate functions, presenting at the executive level, working with corporate business partners, and leading cross-functional large-scale initiatives
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
“Win together” mentality
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Product Suite
Associates must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on business need, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays
