Job Description

Main Job Objective

The Director, Global Visual Merchandising (VM) is responsible for overseeing the strategy, creation, and implementation of all VM guidelines and standards across all retail channels. As the title suggests, the Director of Global Visual Merchandising must be a strong cross-functional partner to counterparts in fresh’s international markets as well as at headquarters. The position reports to the VP of Global Visual Merchandising and Store Design.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize and oversee the communication directives for all VM initiatives to the markets and cross-functional teams for campaigns, product launches, seasonal, core, and pop-up/special animations
  • Evolve and create guidelines to uphold and elevate brand standards (e.g. global planograms, graphics, and props)
  • Set clear expectations and feedback to ensure all implementations respect the brand guidelines and design principles
  • Own all project phases from ideation to in-store execution, and to post-roll-out support, to achieve merchandising and strategic goals
  • Lead cross-functional global teams to establish merchandising strategy and campaign direction through a strong understanding of global distribution channels
  • Partner with cross-functional global teams on the creative for all campaign graphics, messaging strategies, and 360 tool kits.
  • Collaborate with Global Purchasing to support and/or coordinate partnerships with external design firms, manufacturers, and preferred vendors for prototypes, styling, and execution
  • Oversee the rollout of new markets from directive development, store opening processes, and sourcing
  • Liaise with regional teams to ensure that global merchandising developments reflect local market or channel needs
  • Motivate, inspire, and coach direct reports and partners. Guide team to meet and exceed department goals
  • Ensure the continuation of a culture of strong communication and teamwork for sharing best-practices and ideas with the global and regional VM teams
  • Responsible for VM budget tracking and invoice administration

What you will learn in the first 6 months:

  • An understanding of the brand experience to articulate the consumer journey by channel and retailer
  • Drive all phases of VM campaign development from concept, to design, to execution
  • Build relationships with global and regional VM partners through clear and consistent communication
  • Oversee guideline development for channel(s) of distribution

What you will achieve in 12 months:

  • Spearhead all operational and administrative aspects of VM to lead global and regional teams
  • Drive and communicate brand visual standards within each retail experience
  • Innovate and elevate visual presentation through strong understanding of the global retail landscape

Profile

  • 10+ years of, or equivalent experience with VM
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas through hand sketches, 2D, and 3D renderings
  • Strong team spirit with outstanding organizational, presentational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-up (or comparable) and Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and associated costs
  • Experience in luxury beauty or luxury fashion retail with preference for cosmetic retailing
  • Solid project management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work the hours to accommodate time zones of global teams
  • Must be able to travel

Salary Range

$130,000 – $165,000
