Job Description

The Compliance team is responsible for supporting business initiatives by partnering with the business and providing in-depth regulatory knowledge to identify compliance risks, gaps, and options to achieve their goals. To accomplish this, compliance associates apply consumer compliance laws and regulations in the credit and debit card business and develop relationships with key business partners.

A day in the life…

• Review and advise as to consumer compliance requirements for, and implications of, day to day activities, projects and any other initiatives
• Serve as a subject matter expert to provide compliance support to the business
• Identify opportunities to enhance compliance knowledge in first line business areas; develop and/or facilitate training sessions
• Support associates with regulatory and industry research and develop an understanding of current business processes to determine any applicable compliance requirements and/or industry best practices
• Identify, review and communicate to Compliance team and the business applicable regulatory guidance, including proposed and final rules and regulations and other applicable guidance as appropriate
• Liaise with Bank partner for all compliance and safety/soundness reviews they conduct (all lines of defenses) and/or regulatory agencies having supervisory authority over Bank partner, including responding to any identified findings
• Oversee the Customer Complaint Program, including written consumer inquiries and complaints received through regulatory agencies, and responses to those complaints
• Review collateral, including card product (Nordstrom retail, Visa, and debit card) marketing materials and consumer communications prior to implementation for regulatory compliance related matters
• Provide compliance oversight of findings identified by Nordstrom Compliance, Operational Risk Management, and Internal Audit, and Bank partner
• Review updates to compliance components of procedures contained in Knowledge Base
• Develop and deliver comprehensive reporting of compliance findings to internal Nordstrom business partners and Nordstrom Compliance department
• Assist Manager with organization and assignment of tasks
• Assist with the implementation of Nordstrom Card Services’ Compliance Management Program

You own this if you have…

• At least 4 years of experience in a financial industry regulatory compliance or a financial industry compliance audit position
• Bachelor and/or advance degree(s) in a related field (legal, finance, business, accounting, management) preferred
• Strong computer proficiency, including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Self-directed ability to proactively identify needs and opportunities, and formulate solutions with minimal supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of Consumer Compliance laws and regulations applicable to the financial services industry
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and research, reasoning and analytical skills
• Proficiency in time-management with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with First Data software applications and reporting using Business Intelligence (Bi) tools a plus, e.g., Sas Enterprise Guide, Business Objects, and/or Tableau
