Job Description

As Retail Manager, North America you will be fully accountable for the leadership and direction of the Retail teams and Stores in North America. Reporting to the General Manager, your key challenge is to deliver operational, commercial, and visual excellence, ensuring customers are always front of mind. You will be passionate about achieving and exceeding all sales and profits objectives, inspiring Management teams to run their Store like their own businesses.

Based in the Flagship store, you will epitomise Mulberry by living the values and delivering the highest standards. You are able to spot and react to commercial opportunities in your Region. You will drive projects, building strong relationships with central functions to help influence and drive the success and the future growth of the business. Having a flexible leadership style is key to developing managers who vary in experience and skill set.

Duties & Responsivities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily store operations such as sales, expense control, staff recruitment, training, inventory management, security and safety, etc.
  • Drive regional performance in line with company growth targets.
  • Identify regional opportunity and present business plan for targeted commercial opportunities.
  • Maximise regional performance through constant review of store productivity and densities.
  • Drive performance through effective planning around peak trade periods.
  • Plan, forecast, report on sales, costs and business performance according to company requirements for all stores in region.
  • Work collaboratively with regional Head of Finance to develop and review monthly/annual sales forecasts to facilitate planning and improvement of P&L.
  • Communicate regional opportunities to B&M/Visual/Marketing and other HO functions.
  • Project Manage any new store openings or store closures when required. Partner with B&M and Visual teams to maximise store support and growth.
  • Develop the strategic retail plan and customer strategy for North America to drive and maintain customer loyalty. Manage local business plans to ensure the short, mid and long-term profitable growth of the Brand.
  • Lead the retail team to identify potential product needs, customers service and provide timely coaching to ensure the teams are able to meet and exceed the requirements of their roles.
  • Monitor and review performance of retail store teams identifying staff performance improvement of Kpis and career development.
  • Anticipate and plan for future challenges and business growth opportunities across the Region.
  • Constantly seek opportunities and areas to improve, encouraging the Store teams to try new ideas to drive the business forward.
  • Maintain positive customer relations to develop customers’ loyalty .
  • Anticipate and evaluate market opportunities and assure the project management of new stores opening/relocation/renovation.
  • Perform other related ad hoc tasks and projects when necessary .

  • Recruit, develop and retain a high performing Retail teams. Effectively manage performance and address any issues or concerns, delivering difficult messages with credibility.
  • Understand the strengths and abilities of your teams and utilise this to drive talent management and succession planning for the market.
  • Coach Store Managers to ensure they are well equipped to manage, develop and engage their teams to a high standard.
  • Unite and align teams, demonstrating strong leadership and a global vision.
  • Create a culture where good performance is rewarded and recognised and build a team which people want to be part of.
  • Show flexibility in your leadership style and approach to fit the needs of individuals.
  • Engage teams, ensuring they feel empowered and informed.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Commercially astute and proven track record in a similar role.
  • Strategic and results-driven with strong leadership abilities to motivate team.
  • Detailed knowledge of the luxury market in North America.
  • Strongly motivated by building the brand and business for long term success.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
