In 2014, she published a memoir, The Woman I Wanted To Be, which has been translated into six languages. In 2015, she was named one of the TIME 100 Most Influential People. In 2018, she received the CFDA Swarovski Award for Positive Change.

With her corporate headquarters in New York’s Meatpacking District, von Furstenberg has long been a vocal member of the community and was actively involved in the campaign to save the historic High Line railway and to develop The High Line into what it is today. She serves on the board of the Statue of Liberty–Ellis Island Foundation and is leading the effort to raise funds for the Foundation, which, in partnership with the National Park Service, will build the new Statue of Liberty Museum and continue the beautification of Liberty Island. She also serves on the board of the Shed, the new center for artistic and cultural innovation in New York City, and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.

Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager for our flagship location in the heart of Nyc’s vibrant Meatpacking District. This individual will play a pivotal role in the operational excellence, team development, and financial success of the store. The General Manager will lead a dynamic team of six, fostering a culture of collective achievement and exceptional customer service, and will liaise closely with company executives to ensure the store’s offerings and experiences are in line with Dvf’s strategic vision and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Cultivate a positive, high-performance environment, leading a team of six by example and providing regular coaching and development.
  • Drive the recruitment, training, and professional development of team members, ensuring they are well-versed in Dvf’s culture, product offerings, and service standards.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication between the team and company executives, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.

Sales & Customer Experience:

  • Uphold the highest standards of customer service, creating an environment that ensures unforgettable client experiences and fosters customer loyalty.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize sales and meet or exceed targets and KPIs.
  • Continuously gather customer feedback, and maintain an in-depth knowledge of market trends and local competition.

Operations & Visual Merchandising:

  • Oversee all store operations, including inventory management, loss prevention, health and safety compliance, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with the visual merchandising team to ensure the store’s presentation and product placement capture the essence of the Dvf brand and appeal to our target demographic.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, providing detailed monthly reports and updates to company executives.

Executive Collaboration:

  • Work in close coordination with Dvf executives, providing regular updates, responding to directives, and aligning store operations with company strategy.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the flagship location, addressing any escalated issues or concerns and ensuring a unified brand message.
  • Participate in executive meetings, offering insights and feedback that will contribute to the evolution and growth of the Dvf brand.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of luxury retail management experience, with a preference given to those with flagship or high-profile location experience.
  • Proven track record of meeting sales targets and KPIs in a fast-paced, upscale retail environment.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience in managing, coaching, and motivating teams.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in retail management systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Passion for the Dvf brand, its legacy, and its contributions to the fashion industry.
