Summary

The Benefits Assistant is responsible for providing responsive customer service and managing benefit-related eligibility processing. This role supports the administration of employee benefits programs and assists the Benefits Director with various tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist Benefits Director with planning and employee education.
• Process time-off payouts as applicable.
• Serve as liaison between HR/payroll and third-party administrators for disability requests.
• Partner with P&D business partners and Payroll on disability claims.
• Process and reconcile funding requests and invoices.
• Provide responsive customer service.
• Administer employee refunds and collect premiums as needed.
• Oversee and identify claim issues, working with employees and insurance companies to resolve them.
• Understand and apply benefit laws such as COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Benefits Director.

Requirements

• Ability to make decisions in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding benefits administration.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical materials.
• Perform basic mathematical computations for benefits calculations and payroll deductions.
• Prioritize and handle assignments effectively.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of departmental and employee issues.
• Follow complex instructions.
• Communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Prepare concise reports in a timely manner.
• Establish cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
