As a member of the sales team, the Account Executive is responsible for prospecting, developing, and maintaining customer relationships. This includes managing both independent and department store wholesale accounts within the luxury sector, with a particular emphasis on high-end jewelry. The Account Executive will focus on sustainable account growth, providing an efficient and responsive support infrastructure for customers, and collaborating with sales colleagues and related departments. This role requires extensive travel (50% to 75%) to conduct trunk shows, training sessions, in-store selling events, and to build lasting relationships with store management and sales staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned accounts, including a mix of department stores, independent retailers, and potentially major doors within the designated territory.
- Plan, organize, and implement strategic sales initiatives for existing accounts while actively prospecting and developing new wholesale opportunities.
- Develop and implement sales, customer retention, and account development strategies aimed at sustainable growth in line with the Company’s Strategic Plan.
- Write seasonal, replenishment, and special orders as needed to meet store product requirements.
- Understand individual store product needs, recommend buys and transfers, and conduct inventory reassorts to ensure optimal product mix.
- Coordinate coop marketing plans for applicable accounts to maximize brand exposure and sales potential.
- Analyze sales statistics to determine business growth opportunities, establish annual sales goals, and project expected sales volumes.
- Collaborate with relevant internal departments and divisions to ensure cohesive business operations and consistent brand representation.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with all customers in the account base, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
- Conduct trunk shows, trainings, and in-store selling events to engage customers and support store staff.
- Manage consignment processes as applicable.
- Obtain customer inventory reports monthly, analyze sales performance, recommend reorders, and suggest inventory adjustments.
- Assess Return-to-Vendor (RTV) risks and provide recommendations each season to improve account profitability and inventory health.
- Extensive travel (50% to 75%) for account visits, trunk shows, trainings, and in-store selling activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ wholesale sales experience in the luxury sector, specifically luxury jewelry, with a proven track record in working with sophisticated clientele.
- Prior experience selling and styling luxury jewelry as well as managing both independent and department store accounts.
- Demonstrated success in meeting sales goals, with strong negotiation and sales planning skills.
- Ability to sell to customer needs, motivated by achieving targets and developing business.
- Proficient in retail math and capable of using data-driven insights for inventory and sales adjustments.
- Strong relationship-building capabilities, including coaching, staffing, and managing processes.
- Sound market knowledge to identify new opportunities and foster growth in existing accounts.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and clarity in all interactions.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and team-oriented approach to achieve collective business objectives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
