Job Description

The Accounting Clerk at Breitling Canada, Inc. will assist the Finance and Operations Manager with General Accounting responsibility, including month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and fixed asset and depreciation schedule management. Additionally, the Accounting Clerk will offer assistance with the audit process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with all general accounting activities for the organization; work with Finance and Operations Manager to establish general accounting processes and objectives.
  • Process Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables invoices in Sap.
  • Complete month-end journal entries related to the financial close to ensure accounting objectives are achieved within tight deadlines.
  • Manage cash reconciliations, including daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliation during month-end according to monthly accounting close deadlines.
  • Assist with fixed assets, and depreciation schedules (including Work in Progress).
  • Assist with and maintain various balance sheet accounts and monthly reconciliations, including prepaid expenses, accrued personnel, misc. accrual, rent expense, and deferrals.
  • Assist with Ar, Ap and Inventory reconciliations. Ensure reconciling items are timely resolved.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, including interpretation and communication of results.
  • Compile Federal (Gst/Hst) and Provincial (Qst/Pst) tax data and interfacing with external service providers to file and pay periodic returns.
  • Assist with annual external audit, including preparation of audit request items and schedules.
  • Streamline general accounting processes and procedures for continuous improvement and automation.
  • Monitor Ar balances and assist Dealers for any inquiries or requests (i.e., statement generation, invoice request, payments, credit limit, etc.)
  • Coordinate with the different departments for any Accounting or system related issues and directs them to the appropriate team for handling.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

Job requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 0-1 year experience in full spectrum of accounting activities.
  • Experience in retail preferred with knowledge of accounting for inventories.
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAp).
  • Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (Ifrs), as well as provincial and federal taxes.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Language Ability:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude with high level of professionalism and ability to communicate across diverse groups of employees and departments.

Math and Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data to prepare accurate statements, summaries, and reports.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, with ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

Software Skills:

  • Experience with major accounting software packages (Sap + Microsoft Dynamics Gp Great Plains)
  • Advanced experience with Ms Excel.

  • The employee works primarily at the Company’s headquarters office, generally during the normal operating hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm and may occasionally work outside of these hours as needed.
