Job Description

We are looking for a Group Director, People and Organization (Human Resources) Fashion Retail, Central to join our People and Organization Team in Las Vegas, Nevada. You will play a leading role in executing core P&O processes with the Central region as well as identifying opportunities for specific people strategies. You will be a key business partner in helping build leadership skills and driving performance in a human driven way. Our ideal candidate will be both hands on and strategic, drawing upon their passion for building relationships and experience in creating effective solutions.

The Impact You Can Create At Chanel:

  • As the People & Organization Business Partner, you will contribute to the overall department strategy in a Generalist role capacity, joining a passionate P&O team.
  • You will work closely with the Head of Retail, store leadership teams and employees within the Central Region, as well as partner with other members of the P&O team, working collaboratively across all levels to assist in the implementation of people-related services, P&O policies, practices and procedures
  • You will deliver P&O solutions in several key areas, including recruitment and hiring, internal mobility, employee relations, performance management, labor law compliance, P&O operations, and skill development and training
  • You will foster and maintain employee relationships tP&Oough coaching, advising and negotiating in conflict situations, and assisting in organizational effectiveness efforts
  • Serves as a strategic P&O Business Partner for the Central Region
  • Provides hands-on P&O support by maintaining both a physical and virtual presence in the respective locations
  • The P&O Business Partner will support the Central Region, which currently includes 7 boutique locations.

  • Understand each functions mission and priorities and apply P&O expertise to develop unique solutions for diverse employee populations
  • Partner with business leaders to align priorities and goals with the right talent and resources for the future, taking into consideration operational effectiveness, performance management and employee engagement
  • Contributes to the total Us P&O strategy tP&Oough proactive ideas and partnership in execution with the broader P&O team

Employee Relations:

  • Manages employee relations for the Central regional and in partnership with boutique leadership team, recommends appropriate employment action to maintain a productive, positive work environment
  • Empowers boutique leaders to manage employee disciplinary actions to ensure consistent, uniform and fair application of company policies and procedures and governmental laws
  • Partner with counsel to prepare for, and when necessary, attend mediations, arbitration, and other court/legal proceedings.
  • Act as point of contact with Loss Prevention on employee investigations.
  • Work with benefits team to manage complex worker’s compensation, leave of absence and accommodation issues. Research, establish and share best practices with internal team as needed.

Organizational Structure:

  • Develop and provide guidance as it relates organization strategy such as structure, workforce planning, talent reviews and succession planning.
  • Support the teams on organization and business issues including but not limited to culture, change, talent preparedness, team effectiveness and P&O projects

Talent Development:

  • Partners with talent acquisition to contribute to a full cycle recruiting processes to meet the various staffing needs within the Region; key influencer in hiring of boutique leadership
  • Partner with leadership on talent agenda – focus on critical skills and roles needed for the future, identification of top talent, development opportunities and succession plans
  • Seek to follow global philosophy while understanding unique nature of retail space
  • Develop robust talent pipeline and strategies to attract, develop and retain key talent (inclusive of retail teams and People & Organization team)
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual leadership coaching needs, providing direction to direct reports to develop and roll out training initiatives.
  • Evaluates and monitors those training programs to ensure success.
  • Follows up to ensure training objectives are met and continually utilized
  • Reinforce self-service model with Retail management team. Provide feedback on areas of difficulty which may require further training or support.
  • Provides elevated performance management guidance
  • Partner with management team to identify talent needs/development, workforce planning, performance management and employment decisions

Problem Solving/Decision Making:

  • Analyze trends and metrics related to employees, utilize in decision making as it relates to various People & Organization items (i.e. compensation, diversity etc.)
  • Expected to use discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance; problem solving often requires originality in determining new procedures, programs or practices.

Compliance / Policy / Procedure:

  • Knowledge of and continual research into best practices; with specific knowledge of employment practices.
  • Communicate and ensure understanding of organization policies, culture, and procedures as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and clarify policies as business evolves
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local employment, pay and workplace laws and regulations. Partner closely with Legal, Benefits, Payroll, and external vendors to establish alignment and respond to inquiries

General Partnership:

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to retail leadership (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Supports retail leadership by providing counsel and support with decision-making
  • Positively influence decisions by actively representing employee interest.
  • Act as coach/consultant to senior leaders on P&O related issues as well as serve as employee advocate and change agent
  • Successful implementation of global P&O programs in partnership with the global P&O community
  • Is a regular contributor to regional meetings, as well as boutique meetings
  • Is aware of all business issues and priorities, and provides focused support, coaching, and guidance to management
  • Works closely and collaboratively with P&O team to support to implement new programs and initiatives that impact employee engagement
  • Assists in the development and administration of all other projects, programs, procedures, and guidelines aimed at aligning the workforce with strategic goals of the department and company

Position Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in a P&O Business Partner role
  • Strong skills in high volume employee relations, talent development, recruiting, and performance management
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills to create long-lasting impact to client group
  • Solid understanding of P&O policies and procedures, Federal and State employment laws, compliance and reporting requirements
  • Strong counselling approach and proven ability to influence others and support where needed
  • Must possess strong management and internal customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, organize and present data
  • Must possess sound judgment and critical thinking skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and administer broad range of tasks
  • Demonstrated success management of multiple projects and competing priorities while balancing the needs for quality with meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; evidence of self-motivation; demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and work both independently and in teams within a service-oriented organization
