Job Description

The Manager, Organization Effectiveness and Design leads the development of organizational effective (OE) projects for the company and the change management processes associated in support of the OE projects. This role helps to redefine the capabilities, structure, accountabilities, and interactions required to deliver value for the business. Using research and data driven insights, the Manager, Organization Effectiveness and Design helps to develop adaptable organization structures and ensures successful adoption of OE and change initiatives. .

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

Organization Effectiveness

  • Act as a prime organization effectiveness subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and provide counsel to HR Business Partners to support business outcomes.
  • Provide thought leadership, advice and guidance on implementation of a wide range of OE solutions, including organization efficiency (e.g. number of layers, span of control, compression)organization effectiveness (e.g., role clarity, accountabilities, processes, decision making authority and collaboration) and organization development
  • Lead the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of OE projects in service of business outcomes and our desired culture.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by developing an expert understanding of the business and recommending solutions that address group challenges and stakeholder needs
  • Conduct independent analysis, develop OE solutions, and make recommendations to senior leaders based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and consistent application of Holt Renfrew’s talent strategy, framework, and principles by working in partnership with Talent Management and HR business partner teams

Change Management

  • Design and manage organizational change management methods and communication plans that proactively identify and mitigate delivery and people risks associated with business change initiatives
  • Lead the development of change management and communications strategies for OE initiatives, focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour and increasing adoption
  • Facilitate working sessions, training sessions, deliver presentations, and build and lead ambassador forums
  • Consult across the business to ensure that the identified change management methodology is integrated into all change and OE initiatives and project plans.

Organization Design

  • Participate in assessing the organization or specific business units to realign and redefine the capabilities, structure, accountabilities, and interactions required to deliver value for the business.
  • Develop business cases by diagnosing issues, identifying needs, analyzing potential options, testing against design criteria and assessing expected return on investment.
  • Align leadership groups around design selection, lead the implementation of the final design decision and conduct ongoing assessments and improvements.
  • May consult to or serve on various committees and task forces.

The ideal candidate:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Human Capital or Strategy consulting role and / or Organizational Effectiveness or Change Management role, preferably on medium to large scale and complex projects / initiatives
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Expert knowledge across the field of organization design and effectiveness, including organization design principles, process and methodology.
  • Ability to navigate a complex, matrixed, and virtual environment for effective, scalable, and sustainable outcomes.
  • A collaborative, proactive and results oriented professional with demonstrated success in leading and working on projects as a team player.
  • Out of the box thinking to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
  • Change management certification or designation an asset.
