Summary
Lead and support international accounting functions and monthly close processes, partnering with local accountants in France, Hong Kong and Thailand and overseeing accounting for Canadian operations. Promote fiscal responsibility, safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards while supporting system implementations and cross functional analysis.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate monthly trial balance uploads with local international accounting teams and ensure proper intercompany reporting.
- Oversee international accounting such as profit eliminations, CTA and intercompany reconciliations.
- Support implementation of new international POS by working with General Accounting, Inventory, IT and consultants.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for Canadian operations including sales, COGS, payroll and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare deliverables and assist with year-end reviews and external audits.
- Collaborate with department leads and FP&A to analyze expenses and prepare adjusting entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for cash, receivables, intercompany, prepaid and accrual accounts.
- Analyze monthly expense variances versus prior year and budget.
- Identify and implement process efficiencies and strengthen controls leveraging Oracle and reporting tools.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant accounting experience with increasing responsibility.
- BS in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
- Experience with retail or consumer products preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger ERP systems; Oracle experience preferred.
- Experience with reporting tools such as Adaptive.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to accuracy and precision.
- Collaborative, driven self-starter with process improvement mindset.
