Alterations Associate

Summary

Responsible for all aspects of garment alterations including pinning, fitting, marking and sewing to deliver timely professional alterations services to clients in a boutique setting. Works closely with sales associates to ensure fittings meet customer and manufacturing specifications and maintains high standards when handling complex and high-end materials.

Responsibilities

• Fit customers and perform measurements to determine alteration needs
• Pin, mark and alter garments to meet customer and sales associate requirements
• Repair and make made-to-measure clothing following specifications
• Assemble garment parts and join with basting stitches using hand tools and sewing machines
• Communicate with clients to explain the alterations process and manage expectations
• Work with sales associates to coordinate fittings and client service
• Handle high-end and complex garment constructions carefully
• Complete alteration projects accurately and on time

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years experience in boutique or store environments altering luxury garments
• Knowledge of alterations equipment and sewing techniques for dresses and delicate materials
• Ability to interact professionally with clients during fittings
• Highly motivated, detail oriented and able to work efficiently under pressure
• Ability to bend and kneel during fittings and perform precise marking
• Capable of lifting and carrying garments up to 10lbs
