Alterations Associate - Houston Boutique

Summary

Responsible for all aspects of garment alterations for a boutique clientele, including pinning, fitting, marking, and performing alterations. Delivers professional, timely alterations and made-to-measure work for high-end garments. Works closely with sales associates to ensure customer expectations are met during fittings.

Responsibilities

• Fit, alter, repair, and create made-to-measure clothing according to customer and manufacturing specifications.
• Partner with sales associates to support clients during fittings and ensure alterations meet sales associates' and customers' requirements.
• Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches using needles, thread, or sewing machines as necessary.
• Communicate with clients to understand needs and explain the alterations process.
• Perform fittings on customers and verify proper sizing and finish of alterations.

Requirements

• Knowledge of alterations equipment and techniques; experience sewing dresses and altering high-end, complex garments.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in boutique or store environments, ideally altering luxury garments.
• Strong client service skills and ability to interact professionally during fittings.
• Detail-oriented, able to work efficiently under pressure, and complete projects on time.
• Ability to bend and kneel during fittings and lift and carry garments up to 10 lbs.
