Job Description

Summary

The Alterations Associate performs garment alteration and tailoring services for customers in-store. This role delivers high-quality workmanship, fits garments to customer specifications, and supports sales associates to ensure timely pickups. Works primarily in the store tailoring workroom and on the sales floor as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform alterations such as hemming, taking in/out seams, shortening sleeves, and other garment adjustments to meet fit specifications.
  • Measure customers, mark garments, operate sewing machines and perform hand-finishing and pressing as required.
  • Manage work order tracking, prioritize alterations to meet promised pickup dates, and inspect finished items for quality.
  • Communicate with customers and sales staff about fit, timelines, and price estimates for alterations.
  • Maintain an organized, clean workroom and ensure proper care of tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional tailoring or alterations experience with a strong portfolio of work.
  • Proficiency with industrial sewing machines, pressing equipment, and hand-sewing techniques across a variety of fabrics.
  • Strong attention to detail, good time-management skills, and ability to meet quality and production standards.
  • Good customer service and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with sales associates.
