Summary

The Alterations Manager oversees the alterations and tailor shop to deliver high quality, timely service while developing a skilled team. This role manages workflow, labor and shop operations to meet customer expectations and Nordstrom standards. The manager is responsible for hiring, coaching and ensuring employees follow proper procedures and equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Teach, coach and develop employees to provide exceptional customer service
• Identify, recruit and hire qualified alterations and tailoring talent
• Coach employees to complete alterations and tailoring according to company service and quality standards
• Organize department workload to ensure items are completed by the promised date
• Educate staff on proper fit, shop procedures and safe use of equipment
• Manage office and labor expenses for the department

Requirements

• Previous experience in alterations and tailoring
• Understanding of safe and proper use of shop equipment
• Strong communication skills with coworkers and customers
• High level of ownership, accountability and initiative
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store needs
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
