Job Description

Summary

Apprentice Silversmith Level 2 based in Cumberland, RI, responsible for learning and performing silver fabrication and finishing at the bench. The role focuses on interpreting blueprints, soldering, fitting, machining, hand forming, and meeting company quality standards within production timelines. Work includes operating power equipment, minimizing porosity with welding techniques, and supporting production documentation and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints and fabricate items to production artwork and QA standards.
  • Perform soldering, fitting, machining, hand forming, hallmarking, planishing, and finishing of components.
  • Operate and set up power equipment including draw bench, presses, lathes, shears, saws, sanders, drill press, and flex shaft.
  • Use laser welders, filler wire, rotary planishers, hammers, and chasing tools to minimize porosity and complete repairs.
  • Organize work instructions, capture in-process images, assist in writing SOPs, and provide progress updates to management.
  • Follow all safety procedures, maintain a professional work environment, and assist with tours/filming as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English and work well in a team.
  • Metal fabrication experience with the ability to read blueprints and fabricate three-dimensional objects.
  • Problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or GED and computer literacy.
  • BFA/MFA in metals and jewelry listed as qualification.
  • Preferred: basic knowledge of laser welder machines and advanced CAD/computer skills.
