SummaryThe Area Facilities Manager is responsible for leading a team of skilled technicians and managers in delivering Material Handling, Industrial Automation, and Base building services in a 24/7 logistics environment. This role involves using KPIs and metrics to ensure the success of maintenance and operations teams, while reporting to the Facilities Manager and managing the Controls Systems Specialists and MHE Technicians on shift.
Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a safety-first culture by promoting safe work practices and timely training.
- Manage vendor and supplier performance.
- Lead a shift of material handling, controls, and facility technicians to ensure 100% equipment uptime.
- Develop solutions to complex problems and manage escalations using outside contractors.
- Handle multiple projects and daily activities, meeting deadlines and departmental goals.
- Ensure compliance with safety programs and procedures.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and relationships with senior operations leaders.
- Develop business plans and guide their successful implementation.
- Uphold contract terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Coordinate FM activities with site occupants and property management.
- Assist in developing and managing detailed operating budgets.
- Develop and implement SOPs and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Anticipate future business changes and implement new plans.
- Create a strong culture by building a high-performing team.
- Support facility performance through contracted services.
- Coordinate system repairs and monitor systems for maximum uptime.
- Execute audits and record-keeping practices.
Requirements- Four-year degree in a related discipline or relevant experience.
- 3-5 years of direct supervision or lead support of multi-building operations.
- Experience in managing MHE, Controls, and PIT operations.
- Experience in managing 24/7 operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior client relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Ability to plan and manage within budget and time constraints.
- Strategic thinker with strong implementation orientation.
- Basic understanding of commercial leases and contract documents.
- Ability to multitask and work without direct supervision.
- Excellent prioritization and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong organizational skills.
- Affiliation with professional organizations such as IFMA, BOMA, RILA, Nexus, PRSM.
- Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean, TPC, or other operational excellence methodologies.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Broad network of facilities professionals and supplier base.
