Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and physical assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to emergencies, and supporting store safety programs. This role partners with store leadership, law enforcement, and cross functional teams to reduce shrinkage and maintain a safe shopping environment. The agent participates in security audits, emergency response training, and prepares incident reports.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance to support investigations.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, technology, and RFID data to drive shrinkage reduction.
- Investigate internal theft and gather evidence in partnership with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training including First Aid.
- Prepare and submit complete reports for high-profile incidents, recoveries, investigations, and safety incidents.
- Support physical security through audits, training, and shrinkage awareness efforts.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and meet state or local licensing requirements.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
- Ability to prepare detailed incident reports and collaborate with law enforcement.
- Comfort using technology and surveillance systems for investigations.
