Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and physical assets by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and promoting shrinkage reduction initiatives. The role partners with store leadership and external authorities to resolve incidents and maintain safety and security.
Responsibilities
- Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents while adhering to policy and procedures.
- Monitor surveillance systems and use video to support investigations.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, technology, and RFID data to aid investigations.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and partnering with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training.
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store.
- Prepare and submit reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and violations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and a calm demeanor in safety incidents.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements where applicable.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
- Ability to partner with law enforcement and neighboring retailers.
