Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, merchandise, and physical spaces by preventing and investigating theft, responding to emergencies, and supporting store safety and loss prevention programs. This role partners with store leadership, law enforcement, and AP teams to maintain a secure shopping environment and improve inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents following policy and AP leadership guidance.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance to support investigations.
- Identify theft trends using reporting tools and RFID data to aid investigations.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and partnering with investigation teams.
- Prepare and submit reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Respond to and escalate store security and emergency incidents, including medical emergencies.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training.
- Lead security audits, shrinkage awareness efforts, and training within the store.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Ability to make and be accountable for decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
