Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, team members, assets, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and maintaining store safety and security. The role partners with store leadership and external agencies to reduce shrinkage and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents following policy and leadership guidance
- Monitor video and surveillance systems to identify and investigate theft activity
- Leverage reporting, RFID data, and technology to identify theft trends and support investigations
- Investigate internal theft and gather evidence in collaboration with AP leadership and investigation teams
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response and first aid training
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts within the store
- Respond to and escalate store security, safety, and medical emergencies
- Collaborate with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable
- Strong decision making, accountability, and ownership in fast paced environments
- Clear verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs
- Ability to testify in court when summoned
