Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and store assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to emergencies, and supporting store safety initiatives. This role partners with store leadership, law enforcement, and AP teams to maintain a secure environment and improve inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor video and surveillance systems to identify and investigate theft activity.
- Support internal theft investigations by gathering evidence and collaborating with AP leadership.
- Leverage reporting, technology, and RFID data to identify trends and aid investigations.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, and investigations.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency and First Aid training.
- Lead security audits and implement merchandise protection standards and action plans.
- Maintain safety of customers and employees by responding to and escalating security and medical incidents.
- Testify in court when required and build partnerships with local law enforcement and neighboring retailers.
Requirements
- Strong judgment and decision making in fast paced retail environments.
- Clear verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when addressing aggressive behavior.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements where applicable.
- Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and high level of ownership.
- Ability to prepare thorough reports and document incidents accurately.
