Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, teams, assets, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and maintaining a safe store environment. The role partners with store leadership, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement to reduce shrinkage and support product accuracy. The position requires use of surveillance systems, reporting tools, and participation in safety and emergency training.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions following policy and leadership guidance.
- Monitor surveillance systems and use video to support investigations.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, technology, and surveillance tactics.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and partnering with investigation teams.
- Leverage RFID and other data to support merchandise movement investigations.
- Respond to, escalate, and report store security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store.
- Prepare and submit reports for high-profile incidents, recoveries, investigations, and safety incidents.
- Testify in court when summoned and build partnerships with local law enforcement and neighboring retailers.
Requirements
- Ability to make sound decisions and be accountable in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and participate in Emergency Response Team training including First Aid.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements where applicable.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Attention to detail, initiative, and high level of ownership.
