Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and store assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to security incidents, and supporting emergency response efforts. The role partners with store leadership and law enforcement to mitigate shrinkage and maintain a safe shopping environment while adhering to policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents in accordance with policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor surveillance and video systems to identify theft activity and support investigations.
- Identify theft trends and implement shrinkage reduction action plans and merchandise protection standards.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and coordinating with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Leverage RFID and exception reporting to support item level investigations and inventory accuracy.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security incidents and medical emergencies to maintain safety.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response and first aid training.
- Prepare prompt and complete reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions, use good judgment, and maintain confidentiality in a fast paced environment.
- Calm demeanor when handling safety issues and individuals exhibiting aggressive behavior.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership with a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet any state and local licensing requirements for the role.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Willingness to partner with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
