Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, assets, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and maintaining a safe store environment. The role partners with store leadership and external agencies to investigate incidents, reduce shrinkage, and support store security operations.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and guidance.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance tactics to identify theft activity and support investigations.
- Use reporting tools and RFID data to identify theft trends and investigate merchandise discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and safety events.
- Support store Emergency Response Team activities and respond to security and medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store.
- Collaborate with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement on investigations and prevention strategies.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
- Support internal theft investigations and escalation procedures.
Requirements
- Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Maintain confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior or safety issues.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and meet state and local licensing requirements.
- Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
- Ability to prepare clear incident reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Willingness to participate in emergency response training including First Aid.
