Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, merchandise, and physical assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to emergencies, and supporting store safety initiatives. This role partners with store leadership, law enforcement, and AP teams to maintain a secure environment and improve inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and leadership guidance.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, surveillance, and technology tools.
- Drive shrinkage reduction efforts by implementing protection standards and action plans.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and coordinating with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Monitor video systems and leverage RFID data to support investigations and merchandise accuracy.
- Respond to and report security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and participate in store meetings and training to raise shrinkage awareness.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response and First Aid training.
- Prepare reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and testify in court when summoned.
Requirements
- Strong judgment, decision making, and accountability in fast paced environments.
- Clear verbal and written communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
