Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, maintaining store safety, and supporting inventory accuracy. The role partners with store leadership, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement to drive shrink reduction and respond to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents in accordance with policy and AP leadership guidance.
- Monitor surveillance and video systems, leverage RFID and exception reporting to identify theft trends and support investigations.
- Investigate internal and external theft by gathering evidence and partnering with investigation teams.
- Respond to, escalate, and report store security, safety, and emergency incidents; serve on the Emergency Response Team and participate in training including First Aid.
- Prepare prompt, complete reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations; testify in court when summoned.
- Lead security audits, shrinkage awareness efforts, and training within the store.
Requirements
- Strong judgment, decision-making, and accountability in fast-paced situations.
- Clear verbal and written communication and good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and meet state/local licensing requirements.
- Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
