Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, maintaining security of the store environment, and supporting emergency response efforts. This role partners with store leadership, local law enforcement, and investigation teams to drive shrinkage reduction and ensure safety.
Responsibilities
- Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents in accordance with policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor video and surveillance systems to identify theft activity and support investigations.
- Investigate internal theft and gather evidence in partnership with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Leverage reporting, RFID data, and exception-based systems to identify theft trends and merchandise movement.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security incidents and medical emergencies to maintain store safety.
- Lead security audits, shrinkage awareness efforts, and provide training within the store.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response and first aid training.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to make decisions, use good judgment, and remain calm in high pressure situations.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate accountability and initiative.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
- Willingness to participate in emergency response activities and safety training.
