Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, merchandise, and company assets by preventing and investigating theft, maintaining safety, and supporting emergency response. The role partners with store leadership and local authorities to resolve incidents, conduct investigations, and implement shrinkage reduction strategies.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions following policy and leadership guidance
- Monitor surveillance and video systems to identify and investigate theft activity
- Use reporting tools and RFID data to identify trends and support investigations
- Prepare detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations
- Support internal theft investigations and partner with AP leadership and investigation teams
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and respond to security and medical emergencies
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases
Requirements
- Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment in a fast paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs
- Meet applicable state and local licensing requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred
- Accountability, initiative, and high level of ownership
