Summary
Responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and store assets by preventing and investigating theft, responding to emergencies, and supporting store safety and loss prevention initiatives. Works closely with store leadership, Emergency Response Team, and external partners to maintain a safe retail environment and reduce shrinkage.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality apprehensions and resolve theft incidents while following policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor video and surveillance systems to identify and investigate suspicious activity.
- Leverage reporting, RFID data, and technology to identify theft trends and support investigations.
- Lead security audits and implement merchandise protection standards and action plans.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security, safety, and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
- Serve as a member of the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training.
- Build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to make accountable decisions and use good judgment in fast paced environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive individuals.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- High level of accountability, initiative, and ownership.
