Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, store assets and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and promoting inventory accuracy. This role partners with store leadership, emergency response teams, and law enforcement to maintain a safe and secure retail environment and to reduce shrinkage.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents using sound judgment and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance to identify and investigate theft activity.
- Use reporting, RFID data, and exception-based tools to identify theft trends and support investigations.
- Prepare and submit reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and safety events.
- Participate as a member of the store Emergency Response Team and assist with emergency training including First Aid.
- Lead security audits, shrinkage awareness efforts, and merchandise protection standards within the store.
- Collaborate with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement on investigations and safety initiatives.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to make accountable decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior or safety issues.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet applicable state and local licensing requirements.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
