Summary
The Asset Protection Agent protects customers, employees, merchandise, and physical spaces by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and maintaining store safety. The role partners with store leadership and external agencies to resolve incidents, support investigations, and drive shrinkage reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents using judgment and conduct apprehensions per policy and leadership guidance
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance to support investigations
- Identify theft trends using reporting, technology, and RFID data to aid investigations
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and partnering with AP leadership and investigation teams
- Respond to, escalate, and report store security incidents and medical emergencies
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for high-profile incidents and recoveries
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases
- Build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement
Requirements
- Ability to make accountable decisions and use good judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm with aggressive individuals
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs
- Meet state and local licensing requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred
- Ability to participate in Emergency Response Team training including First Aid
