Summary
The Asset Protection Agent keeps customers, teams and merchandise safe by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and protecting store assets. This role partners with store leadership, law enforcement, and AP teams to maintain safety, reduce shrinkage, and support inventory accuracy through surveillance, audits, and investigative techniques.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions following policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance to identify theft activity and support investigations.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, technology, and data such as RFID to aid investigations.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and partnering with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Respond to and report security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response and First Aid training.
- Prepare and submit reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in fast paced environments.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and a high level of ownership.
- Ability to prepare thorough reports and partner with external agencies such as law enforcement.
