Summary
The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, team members, merchandise, and physical assets by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and promoting shrinkage reduction strategies. The role partners with store leadership, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement to maintain safety and security while ensuring inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and AP guidance.
- Monitor video systems and leverage technology to identify theft trends and support investigations.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and working with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Use RFID and reporting tools to analyze merchandise movement and aid item level investigations.
- Respond to, escalate, and report store security incidents and medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and deliver shrinkage awareness efforts and training within the store.
- Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training including First Aid.
- Prepare prompt and complete reports for high profile incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Ability to make accountable decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and meet state and local licensing requirements.
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Accountability, initiative, and high level of ownership.
- Ability to partner with store leaders and local law enforcement.
