Job Description

Summary

The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, store assets, and merchandise by preventing and investigating theft and safety incidents. The role partners with store leadership, Emergency Response Team members, and local authorities to respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and support loss prevention initiatives. The agent uses surveillance systems, RFID data, and reporting tools to identify trends and implement shrinkage reduction actions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct apprehensions and resolve theft incidents following policy and AP guidance.
  • Monitor video systems and leverage RFID and reporting tools to identify theft trends and support investigations.
  • Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and collaborating with AP leadership and investigation teams.
  • Respond to, escalate, and report store security, safety, and emergency incidents, including medical situations.
  • Lead security audits, training, and shrinkage awareness efforts within the store.
  • Prepare prompt, complete reports for high-profile incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
  • Testify in court when summoned and build partnerships with neighboring retailers and local law enforcement.

Requirements

  • Ability to make and be accountable for decisions and use good judgment in fast-paced situations.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior or safety issues.
  • Accountability, initiative, and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and meet any state or local licensing requirements.
  • Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
