Summary
The Asset Protection Agent ensures safety of customers and employees while protecting merchandise and company profits through theft prevention, investigations, and emergency response. This role partners with store teams and local authorities to address security incidents, conduct audits, and support inventory accuracy initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft incidents and conduct apprehensions in accordance with policy and leadership guidance.
- Monitor video systems and leverage surveillance technology to identify and investigate suspicious activity.
- Use RFID and reporting tools to analyze merchandise movement and support item level investigations.
- Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and coordinating with AP leadership and investigation teams.
- Respond to, escalate, and document store security incidents and emergencies, including medical events.
- Participate as a member of the store Emergency Response Team and complete related training such as First Aid.
- Lead security audits and shrinkage awareness efforts, and train store teams on merchandise protection standards.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports for high-profile incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
- Testify in court when required for criminal or civil cases.

- Strong judgment and decision making in fast paced environments.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm when handling aggressive behavior.
- Accountability, initiative, and ownership of responsibilities.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement.
