Job Description

Summary

The Asset Protection Agent is responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and store assets by preventing and investigating theft, supporting emergency response, and maintaining a safe store environment. The role partners with store leadership and external agencies to resolve incidents and reduce shrinkage through surveillance, audits, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct apprehensions and resolve thefts in accordance with policy and AP leadership guidance.
  • Monitor video systems and leverage RFID and reporting tools to identify theft trends and support investigations.
  • Investigate internal theft by gathering evidence and collaborating with AP leadership and investigation teams.
  • Respond to and report store security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
  • Lead security audits and participate in store meetings to promote shrinkage reduction and merchandise protection standards.
  • Serve on the store Emergency Response Team and participate in emergency response training including First Aid.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports for incidents, recoveries, investigations, and policy violations.
  • Build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and local law enforcement.
  • Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.

Requirements

  • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment in a fast paced environment.
  • Clear verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and a calm demeanor when handling aggressive behavior.
  • Accountability, initiative, and high level of ownership with a flexible schedule.
  • Meet any state and local licensing requirements.
  • Experience with investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
  • Ability to prepare thorough incident reports and collaborate across teams.
